SOME Peoples said Andromeda is a princess and the goddess of dreams. She is younger than most of the goddesses, and became friends with Medusa. Dionysus appears to be older than her, and she befriends him as well. She is the daughter of King Cepheus and Cassiopeia. in Greek philosophy Cassiopeia (Κασσιόπεια) or Cassiepeia (Κασσιέπεια), a figure in Greek mythology, was queen of Aethiopia and wife of king Cepheus. She was arrogant and vain, characteristics that led to her downfall. Her name in Greek is Κασσιόπη, Kassiope; other variants are Κασσιόπεια, Kassiopeia and Κασσιέπεια, Kassiepeia.Cassiopeia offended the Nereid by boasting that Andromeda was more beautiful than they, so in revenge Poseidon sent a sea monster to devastate Cepheus' kingdom. Since only Andromeda's sacrifice would appease the gods, she was chained to a rock and left to be devoured by the monster.

Andromeda, in astronomy, constellation of the northern sky at about one hour right ascension and 40° north declination. The brightest star, Alpheratz (from the Arabic for “horse’s navel”; the star was once part of the constellation Pegasus), has a magnitude of 2.1. Its most notable feature is the great Andromeda Galaxy, one of the nearest galaxies to Earth and one of the few galaxies visible to the unaided eye. Andromeda is named after the princess of Ethiopia whom, according to Greek mythology, the hero Perseus saved from sacrifice to the sea monster Cetus.

Cepheus, constellation in the northern sky, at about 23 hours right ascension and 70° north in declination. It is shaped like a box with a triangle on top. The brightest star, Alderamin (from the Arabic for “right arm”), has a magnitude of 2.5. The star Delta Cephei gave its name to the variable stars called Cepheid variables. Cepheid variables have a close relationship between their period of variability and their luminosity and thus have been very useful in the measurement of astronomical distances. Cepheus is named after the king of Ethiopia who, according to Greek mythology, was forced to sacrifice his daughter Andromeda to the sea monster Cetus.

Cassiopeia, in astronomy, a constellation of the northern sky easily recognized by a group of five bright stars forming a slightly irregular W. It lies at 1 hour right ascension and 60° north declination. Its brightest star, Shedar (Arabic for “breast”), has a magnitude of 2.2. Tycho’s Nova, one of the few recorded supernovas in the Milky Way Galaxy, appeared in Cassiopeia in 1572. This constellation also contains the prominent radio source Cassiopeia A, a supernova remnant, and the nearby galaxies Maffei I and II. In Greek mythology, Cassiopeia was the queen of Ethiopia whose daughter Andromeda was saved by the hero Perseus from being sacrificed to a sea monster.
